How the parental controls work

Kids Mode is a parent-controlled mode for younger guests. When it's on, three things change for that child:

• You choose what the brain breaks practise. Every free stay gets them already — a short learning challenge that play pauses for. Kids Mode is where you pick the subject (or a mix of them all), set how often they come, and see how your child is getting on — each subject at their own level, remembered. (There are no adverts anywhere on the site, for anyone.)
• A daily play limit you set, after which games stop opening until tomorrow.
• You choose what they can reach — which games are on their game floor, and whether they can play other guests online.

Two things you'll need first: Kids Mode is a Premium perk, and your email has to be confirmed. Both are checked when you save — see the next step.

Everything in this guide lives in one panel: Account → Kids Mode. Sign in with your own (parent) account — the children play on it, so there are no separate child logins to create.

A badge next to the heading tells you at a glance whether the mode is on. If you see one of the notices below the description, the buttons stay disabled until you sort it out:

1. 1The On / Off badge. This is the master switch's current state — every setting below it only applies while it says On.
2. 2Shown when the account isn't Premium. Compare ways to stay to see what Premium includes.
3. 3Shown when your email hasn't been confirmed yet. Click the link in the sign-up email, or use the resend button in the banner across the top of the page. You'll only ever see one of these two notices at a time.

Two things at that heading point back here. A 📘 How do these work? button opens this walkthrough, and once you've started it, it remembers where you got to. And when the hotel adds a control after you've read the guide, a ✨ note lists what's new with a link to the step about it — nothing changes for your children in the meantime, because new controls arrive switched off.

Your child plays on your account, so being signed in can't be what proves a grown-up is at the keyboard. The parent PIN does that instead. Once set, it's required to change any setting here — including turning Kids Mode back off.

The PIN fields sit at the bottom of the panel, next to the Save button. On your first pass you'll only see the right-hand one; the left appears once a PIN exists.

1. 1Setting it the first time. Type 4–8 digits and save. Pick something your child won't guess — not their birthday.
2. 2Proving it's you. From then on this field has to be filled in before any change will save. Leave it blank and the save is refused.
3. 3Changing it. Optional — fill this in as well as the current PIN to replace it.

If it's guessed at: five wrong entries in a minute and the PIN stops being accepted for a short cool-off. The count is kept on the account, so opening a new tab doesn't reset it.

The big coral button switches the mode on for the child currently selected in the panel, saving everything you've set at the same time. Once it's on, the button row changes to the working set — save, practise, progress, and a way back out.

1. 1Turn on Kids Mode. Disabled until the account is Premium and your email is confirmed. It comes back as “Turn Kids Mode back on” if you've set it up before.
2. 2Save. Named after the child you're editing, as a reminder that settings save one child at a time.
3. 3Turn off Kids Mode. Always available — even if Premium lapses — so you can never be stuck with it on. It keeps your settings and the children's progress; it just stops applying them.

One account, up to four children. Each gets their own subject, age level, time limit and progress record — a nine-year-old and a five-year-old don't have to share settings.

The dropdown at the top of the panel chooses which child the settings below belong to. Switching it swaps the whole panel over to that child.

1. 1Child profile. Usernames are your hotel name plus a digit (yourname-1, yourname-2…) — assigned by the hotel, so there's nothing for a child to pick and nothing to moderate. A profile you've added but not yet saved is marked (not saved yet). You can add a name just for you (“Mia”) to tell the profiles apart — it shows on this page and on the “who's playing?” picker, but games, other guests and score boards still only ever see the hotel username.
2. 2Add a sibling. Appears until you have four. The new profile starts on the default settings, ready for you to adjust and save.
3. 3Remove this profile. Appears once there's more than one. It asks for confirmation first, because it deletes that child's learning progress along with the profile.

On the children's side: they pick who's playing from the game floor, and that choice sticks on that device. So a tablet that's mostly the youngest's stays on their profile between visits.

These two settings decide what a brain break actually asks. The subject is the topic — or a mix of them; the age level decides where on each subject's ladder practice begins.

1. 1Subject. Mix it up (🎲) is where a new child starts: each question comes from a different subject that suits their age — maths, spelling, writing, word building — so a break never turns into a slog through one thing. Or pick a single subject; Maths (➕), the one this guide uses for its examples, has 41 skills from counting up to ratio and angles. Indonesian is only ever chosen on purpose, never mixed in. Switching subject and back picks up where they left off.
2. 2Age level. Anywhere from 5 to 12. It isn't a birthday — it's a difficulty dial. If the questions feel too easy or too hard, move it a year and see.

Every subject keeps its own level, and we raise or lower it automatically to match how they're doing. Changing the age level starts every subject again from the new age. More on that in Levels move by themselves.

The daily limit counts time actually spent in a game, not time signed in. When it runs out, games stop opening for that child and they get a wind-down screen offering practice instead.

1. 1Daily play limit. No limit, or one of 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 and 120 minutes. It's per child, so siblings can have different allowances.

The settings are spread down a long panel and the Save button is at the bottom, so it's easy to change something and wander off. Two things are there to stop that.

1. 1The floating reminder. Appears the moment something is unsaved and follows you down the page. Tap it to jump straight to the PIN and Save.
2. 2The PIN field pulses while there are unsaved changes and you haven't typed it yet — it's the gate, so it asks for attention first. It stops as soon as you start typing.
3. 3Save. Named after the child on screen. A green Saved ✓ confirms it; anything wrong (a bad PIN, a lapsed subscription) says so in red instead.

Worth repeating: Save applies to the child in the dropdown. If you set up two siblings in one sitting, save the first before switching to the second — your edits are kept while you switch, but they're not stored until each one is saved.
